Athletic stars ready to shine in Madrid

In the spectacular landscape of the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid it was presented this Thrusday the 2018 Madrid Athletics Meeting, with the participation of five big names of athletics in Spain: Bruno Hortelano, Óscar Husillos, Orlando Ortega, Cristina Lara, and Esther Guerrero.
Along with them have chaired the act Javier Odriozola, Sports General Director of Madrid City Council, and Raúl Chapado, RFEA president. Both of them have underlined the big quality of the participants in this edition of the meeting, which will contribute to increase the very long tradition of this Madrilenian competition. The Meeting will come back next year to its natural scenery: Vallehermoso Stadium, which will again receive the best athletics with open arms.

400m live on Teledeporte


[20 junio 2018]
The most expected event of 2018 Madrid International Athletics Meeting, the 400 metres, will be broadcasted live on Teledeporte channel. We have to remind that broadcasting timetable will be from 19:30 to 20:25 hours due to after this Spanish TV will broadcast the Mediterranean Games Opening Ceremony from Tarragona, following the emission of Madrid Meeting in the website.
With that aim that all athletic fans could have the possibility of seeing the spectacular duel between Óscar Husillos and Bruno Hortelano along with the national and international stars of the 400 metres on live the timetable has been changed. Now the 400 metres heat B will be disputed at 20:12 and the A heat at 20:18 to be broadcasted live. The updated timetable of the Meeting can be reviewed in the web

Saúl Ordóñez vs Álvaro de Arriba, spectacular duel in the two laps race

One of the most thrilling duels we could see next Friday in Madrid will be the one which will confront current Bronze world indoor medalist in 800 metres Saúl Ordóñez with European medalist Álvaro de Arriba. A shocking 800 metres races is awarded in Madrid. Ordóñez reach the date in a very good shape after bettering in Huelva his personal best with 1:44.44, confirming the big sensation of this winter season in which he achieved the bronze medal in Birmingham. At the same time Álvaro de Arriba, bronze European indoor medalist in Belgrade 2017, is also in a very good condition performing a personal best of 1:44.99 in Huelva. Without any doubt, this will be a duel which can approach this two men to the Spanish 800 metres record: 1:43.74 Kevin López.

200m to the European entry standard in Madrid


[19th June 2018]
Estela García and Cristina Lara will be two of the main protagonists of an interesting 200 metres race this Friday in Madrid International Athletics Meeting. The entry standard for Berlin (23.30) is on the target.
We have to remind that both's personal best are under this performance. Cristina Lara, European U23 champion in 4x100 metres last year in Bydgoszcz, has a personal best of 23.22 in 2017 and has raced recently in 23.32, only two hundreds of a second off the entry standard for Berlin. Regarding Estela García will try to participate in her fourth consecutive European Championships this year. Her personal best is 23.23 (2017) and this season she has run in 23.56.

Without any doubt, one of the most interesting field events in Madrid Meeting, to be held next Friday in the Moratalaz Municipality Sport Complex, will be men's pole vault, where the best Spanish athletes in this discipline will try to fly higher.

The most awaited duel: Bruno Hortelano and Óscar Husillos will confront in Madrid

The most expecting piece of news became true. Madrid will live the most spectacular duel athletics in Spain can offer in this moment. The current 100 and 200 metres Spanish record holder Bruno Hortelano, who has come back to track after two year of absence of the tracks, and the great sensation of this winter Oscar Husillos, will confront in the 400 metres of the 2018 Madrid Athletics Meeting.

Hammer world record holder Anita Wlodarzczyk will compete in Madrid

During Madrid Meeting 2018 we will be able to see spectacular throwing events with the attention on the great name of the women's hammer throw during last years, Pole Anita Wlodarczyk.
Wlodarczyk is the current world record holder of this event with the 82,98 metres achieved in 2016 and in addition has dominated the biggest competitions of the last years, including a double Olympic gold medal in London2012 and Rio2016, three World titles in Berlin2009, Beijing2015 and London2017, or two European golds in Zurich2014 and Amsterdam2016.

High flights' meeting in Madrid

With only 17 days to the disputing of 2018 Madrid International Meeting in Moratalaz Municipality Sport Complex, we start knowing some of the biggest stars of international athletics who will compete in the meeting, which belongs to prestigious IAAF World Challenge.
One of the most outstanding names will be the Moscow2013 world champion in high jump, Ukrainian Bogdan Bondarenko, with a personal best of 2,42 metres (2014), third all-time best only three centimetres ahead from Sotomayor's world record.

Madrid Meeting 2018 starts

One of the biggest dates of the Spanish national athletics meetings calendar, Madrid Meeting 2018, arrives next 22nd June in Moratalaz Municipality Sport Complex.
Madrilenian meeting, one more year included in the IAAF World Challenge and which leaded the official rankings of Spanish meetings in 2017 produced by the RFEA with an average of 82.665 points, will join the best Spanish athletes and some of the big names of athletics in the world. This will be also a magnificent opportunity to achieve the entry standards to participate in the big date of athletics in 2018: the European Championships in Berlin, which will be disputed between 6th and 12th August in the Olympic Stadium of the German capital.

Madrid, first step to Berlin 2018

Support the Spanish athletes next 22th June in their way to Berlin European Championships!

Next 22th June Madrid Athletics Meeting will celebrated its next edition. We have to remind that this meeting is part of the prestigious IAAF World Challenge and this edition will be a special one, only a month ahead of Berlin2018 European Champinships.

During three hours you will vibrate with the best athletics in the Moratalaz Municipality Sport Complex, traditional scenery of the Madrilenian competition, in one of the last changes for the athletes to get the World qualification standard.

Sure that some of the will sum their names to the large history of near 40 years of this meeting, along with legendary names of our sport. This competition, in its various locations, have watched unforgettable moments of athletics history. For example, the defeat of Edwin Moses to Danny Harris in the 400 metres hurdles (1987), the exhibition of Carl Lewis in 200 metres (1987), inauguration of the Madrid Stadium (1994) or the pole vault World record by Yelena Isinbayeva (2005).

     Support the best Spanish athletes and the great stars of international athletics in their way to the European Championships.
