The track (CAD)
Inaugurated with occasion of the 2002 Spanish University Championships (May 10th and 11th) they are placed in the "Centro Aragonés del Deporte" precinct, a 36 hectares sports facility located in the "Actur-Puente de Santiago" Area in Zaragoza, one of the most growing up areas of the city during the last years. The Sports Complex was designed by the team of architects formed by Julio Clúa, Antoni Sunyer and Manuel Castillo, who were the winners of the Official Submission convoked by the Aragon Regional Government. The track is fully equipped with an 8 lanes ring, vertical and horizontal runways, warming up and throwing areas annexed to the track and a main stand with capacity for 2.500 persons, where it is placed a wide media stand in addition to several working rooms below the stand.
Only six years old, this track has become one important reference in athletics in Spain after the celebration of important events of national and international category. So, in addition to the already quoted Spanish University Championships, who served for its official inauguration, that same 2002 these facilities hosted the Spanish Championships for Youth and in 2006 it was the scenery of the Spanish Championships. It has also been the venue of several competitions of the Spanish Clubs Championships and also, of course, the four previous editions of the "Gobierno de Aragón" International athletics meeting.
