World Masters Athletics visited Málaga

World Masters Athletics (WMA) delegation has visited Málaga to meet the local organizing committee to work on different topics for the next World Master Championship, to be held between next 4 and 16 of September 2018 with an estimated participation about 8000 athletes.
WMA delegation was led by its president Stan Perkins, who traveled to Málaga with the vice presidents Margit Jungmann and Brian Keavene, council member Sandy Pashkin and the secretary María Alfaro. They met during the visit to different venues with local authorities and the Spanish federation delegates for the championship.
They were also received by the mayor of Málaga Francisco de la Torre, in a reception that also attended the Deputy of Sports, Youth and Education of the Diputación de Málaga Cristóbal Ortega; Marta Rueda, Secretary of Tourism and Sport of the Government of Andalusia; Enrique López Cuenca, president of the Andalusian Athletics Federation and vice-president of RFEA; and José del Río, manager of Málaga, Deporte y Eventos, with great conclusions for the future championship.
Among the agreements adopted was the revision of the schedule which has undergone some slight modification in some competitions (see schedule version 2). This distribution of events per day is already the FINAL VERSION.

We are present in Perth 2016 World Championship

The day begins October 26 in the Australian city of Perth World Masters Championship Athletics end on November 6. Malaga in September 2018 will pick up the relieve, to be known will be present at the Athlete's Village of the Australian city, being represented with a stand where a brochure will be distributed.

As a Mayor of the City of Malaga. I would like to cordially invite you all to the 2018 World Masters Athletics Championship.

Located in a privileged geographical location on thebanks of the Mediterranean Sea, on the southernmost coast of Spain, Malaga is endowed with a firmly established cultural heritage. For almost 3,000 years it has maintained, the essence of being a city that welcomes visitors. Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs left an outstanding legacy.

Malaga possesses a cultural wealth that is based on its past and also on its current development. Our cultural offer has been enhanced by the incorporation of the Picasso Museum, the Carmen Thyssen Museum, Picasso's birthplace & Foundation, the Contemporary Art Centre, and more recently, the Centre Pompidou Málaga and the Collection of the Russian Museum of Saint Petersburg.

Málaga is well known as a very hospitable city which will embrace all participants of the World Masters Athletics Championships championship in 2018 making them enjoy our weather, gastronomy and culture in a beautiful environment.

Málaga is also a city of sports and more than 35% of our population practises some kind of sports. Malaga has been designated European Capital of Sport in 2020.
