The European Cup Winter Throwing meeting has historically provided an early season opportunity for the continent's top throwers.
The 13th edition of the event in Castellon, Spain, on 16-17 March is sure to provide once again the platform for Europe's best to compete against each other.
This will be the second time that Spain will host the annual competition for athletes specialising in the events of discus, javelin, hammer throwing and shot put.
I have every confidence that this year's edition of the European Cup Winter Throwing will be an excellent competition.
I would like to thank the Real Federación Espanola de Atletismo, the local organising committee and the city of Castellon for their efforts in hosting this European Athletics event.
I am looking forward to the city welcoming European, world and Olympic competitors from all over the continent in March, when they will do battle while also enjoying all that Castellon has to offer.
European Athletics President
Few years ago it was decided, a good decision, to give to the throwing athletes who do not have any competition during the indoor season the possibility to compete during the long period from the fall of the previous year to the next spring. For that reason, European Athletics created the European Cup Winter Throwing which, every year, is growing the number of participants and level, with events for senior and under 23 athletes who will compete this year in Castellon, Spain.
It will be a great opportunity to enjoy these spectacular events, which will catch all the attention and serve to confirm the progress of the athletes, after his winter training season.
I hope you all enjoy a competition full of emotions.

Royal Spanish Athletcs President
